Melanie Cooper has a fruitful yoga history. She taught morning self-practice classes at London’s Life Centre for many years and has developed an accepting, intelligent and ever evolving yoga practice. Melanie offers a juicy selection of workshops, teacher trainings and yoga nidra courses far, wide and more recently loads of very well recieved online offerings. Her book Teaching Yoga, Adjusting Asana, is a welcome addition to any yoga bookshelf. Recently an interest in cultural appropration has inspired healthy questions in the yoga community delving into why we do what we do.
We love Melanie’s ability to soften Ashtanga for beginners while having the experience to take those who are ready into a deeper practice. Guests can feel confident that their practice will be guided in an appropriate direction. On the retreat Melanie leads ashtanga vinyasa yoga mornings with the option of either a self practice and/or a led class for those who prefer a bit more structure. Keen yogis sometimes do both! Mel’s partner, Emil Lime assists, giving extra support throughout. Absolute beginners and experienced yogis alike benefit from their intelligent adjustments and clear teaching. Over the years working closely together their innovative adjustments have been refined to a point of inspired brilliance.
Balancing the morning practice are three or four Yin Yoga afternoons – a slow and deep form of yoga, melting into each pose. Mel incorporates pranayama and yoga nidra into the afternoon classes. Informative themes run subtly through the retreat and you will leave with many useful yoga titbits to support your inspired and on going practice.
